Getting Started
To create a new message, navigate to Messages in the top navigation bar. Paige will take you directly to the Create Message form.
If you'd like to view your existing messages, use the ← Messages breadcrumb at the top of the form or your browser's back button to return to the Messages page.
Filling In Your Message
The form has a few key fields to fill in. Here's what each one does:
Message Type
Use the "What type of message are you creating?" dropdown to choose the category that best fits your intent. The available options can include things like:
- Milestones and Celebrations
- Memories and Stories
- I Wish You Knew
- Advice and Motivation
- Apologies and Forgiveness
- Appreciation and Love
- Final Wishes and Instructions
- Other
This field helps organize your messages over time, especially as your collection grows.
Subject
The Subject field is required. Think of it the way you would an email subject line: a short, clear label that lets your recipient know what the message holds. It's also how the message will appear in your own list.
Message Body
The large text area below the subject is where your actual message lives. The toolbar above it gives you basic formatting options — bold, italic, alignment, and paragraph styles — so you can write in whatever way feels most natural.
There's no right length. A message can be a few sentences or several paragraphs. Write what feels true to you.
Photos and Videos
At the bottom of the form, you'll find a media upload area. You can drag a file directly into it, or click Browse Files to select something from your device. Adding a photo or video is optional, but it can add a meaningful layer to what you're sharing.
Scheduling and Sharing Your Message
Once your message is written, it's time to decide who receives it — and when. Click Select contacts and schedule to open the sharing options.
Choose Your Contacts
Use the Choose Contacts dropdown to select one or more people from your contact list. These are the people who will receive this message when it's delivered.
Only people already added to your Contacts will appear in this dropdown. If someone is missing, add them to your contacts first, then return to finish scheduling this message. "How to Add a Contact"
Choose When It's Sent
The Send timing dropdown gives you four options:
|
Timing Option |
What It Means |
|
Immediately |
The message is delivered as soon as you save it. |
|
Later |
You choose a specific future date and time for delivery. |
|
Delegates can trigger |
A trusted delegate you've designated controls when the message is sent. |
|
After-death / in case of emergency |
The message is only delivered at the time of your passing, or when an emergency trigger is confirmed. |
Not sure which timing option is right for you? A best practice is to think about the purpose of the message first — is this something your recipient needs now, or something meant for a specific moment in the future? That can help make the decision clearer.
If you select Delegates can trigger or After-death / in case of emergency, make sure you have at least one delegate set up in your Contacts. Without a delegate, these messages may not be deliverable.

Confirm Your Selections
Once you've chosen your contacts and timing, click Confirm to lock in your scheduling choices. You can collapse the modal using the − button, or click Reset to start those selections over.
Saving Your Message
When everything looks right, click Save Message at the bottom of the form. Your message will be saved and scheduled according to the delivery settings you chose.
After saving, your message will appear in your Messages list. Messages set to deliver after death or by delegate will appear in the Future Delivery section.
If you need to make changes, you can return to the message from your list at any time before it's been delivered.
Changed your mind about something? Click Cancel to exit the form without saving.
Common Questions
"Can I edit a message after I save it?"
Yes — as long as the message hasn't been delivered yet, you can return to it from your Messages list and make updates.
"Can I send the same message to more than one person?"
Yes. The Choose Contacts dropdown allows you to select multiple recipients. Each person will receive the same message according to the timing you selected.
"What happens if I don't have any contacts added yet?"
You'll need to add at least one contact before you can schedule a message for delivery. Head to the Contacts section to get started.
