How to Remove or Delete a Delegate
Paige gives you two clear ways to manage this. You can remove someone's delegate status while keeping them in your contacts, or you can delete them from your contact list entirely. You're always in control.
These are two separate actions. Removing delegate status keeps the person in your address book as a regular contact. Deleting a contact removes them from your Paige account entirely. Read on to find the path that fits what you need.

Common Questions
Option 1: Remove Delegate Status (Keep the Contact)
If someone has accepted their delegate invitation, you'll see a Remove delegate button in their row in your address book. This lets you revoke their special access to receive your files after your passing without removing them from your contacts altogether.
- From the main navigation, go to Contacts.
- In your address book, find the person whose delegate status you'd like to remove. You can use the search bar to locate them quickly.
- In their row, click Remove delegate.
- Confirm the action when prompted.
Once confirmed, their status badge will update from Delegate back to Contact. Anything you had previously shared with them will remain visible to them unless you manually update the sharing settings on each individual item. Removing delegate status on its own does not automatically revoke access to currently shared documents, messages, or memories.
If your goal is to fully cut off someone's access, removing their delegate status is only the first step. You may want to review each document, message, and memory you've shared with them and update those sharing settings individually. Please keep in mind that they may still have these items stored locally if they downloaded them at the time you shared them.

Option 2: Delete a Contact Entirely
If you'd like to remove someone from your contact list altogether whether they're a delegate, a pending delegate, or a regular contact you can delete them using the trash icon in their row. The process is the same regardless of their status.
- From the main navigation, go to Contacts.
- Find the person you'd like to delete in your address book.
- Click the trash icon (🗑️) on the right side of their row.
- A confirmation prompt will appear. Confirm to complete the deletion.
Deleting a contact is permanent and cannot be undone, but you may re-add them manually later. Access to any files that were shared but not downloaded will be removed as well.

A Note on Keeping Enough Delegates
A best practice is to have at least two delegates at any time — trusted people who can help carry out your wishes and act on your behalf after you’ve passed. If removing someone would leave you with fewer than two, it may be worth thinking about who else you'd like to step into that role.
Adding a new delegate is easy — just head to your Contacts page and either add a new contact with the delegate option selected, or click Set as delegate on an existing contact's row.

Common Questions
"Will my delegate be notified when I remove them?"
At this time, Paige does not automatically send a notification when delegate status is removed or when a contact is deleted. If the relationship or your plans have changed, a best practice is to let them know directly — especially if they were expecting to play a role in your legacy planning.
"What's the difference between 'Pending' and 'Delegate' status?"
When you first assign someone as a delegate, their status shows as Pending until they accept the invitation. Once they accept, their status updates to Delegate and the Remove delegate button becomes available in their row. The Remove delegate option only appears after a delegate has accepted — contacts who are still pending can be managed by deleting and re-adding them if needed.
