What Is a Message?
Some things are hard to say in the moment. Some things you want to make sure get said, no matter what. Messages in Paige gives you a way to do both.
A message is a personal note, letter, or piece of guidance that you write today and share on your own schedule — now, later, or after you're gone. Think of it as a way to stay present for the people who matter most, even when you can't be there in person.

What Can a Message Be?
A message in Paige can be a lot of things. Some people use them to share love and gratitude. Others use them to pass along practical instructions. Some write letters they've been meaning to send for years.
A message could look like:
- A birthday letter to your child or grandchild that arrives on a milestone birthday
- A note of forgiveness to someone you haven't spoken to in a while
- Final wishes and instructions for a trusted family member
- Words of advice you want to leave behind
- A simple "I love you" scheduled to arrive when it's needed most
Paige offers message types to help give your words some shape, including things like Milestones and Celebrations, Advice and Motivation, Apologies and Forgiveness, Appreciation and Love, and Final Wishes and Instructions, among others. These aren't rigid categories — they're more like a gentle starting point if you're not sure where to begin.
Not sure what to write? That's completely normal. Paige includes guided prompts to help you find the words. You can find inspiration and examples in [our blog post on making the most of messages] too.
When Does a Message Get Delivered?
One of the most meaningful things about messages in Paige is that you decide when they're sent. You're not locked into one timeline.
A message can be set to send:
- Immediately — right now, as soon as you're ready
- Later — on a specific future date you choose
- When your delegate triggers it — a trusted person you've designated can choose when the time is right
- After your passing or in an emergency — delivered only when your delegate reports a passing through Paige
That last option is especially meaningful for people using Paige as part of their legacy planning. It's a way to make sure your words reach your loved ones even if you can't deliver them yourself.
A delegate is someone you trust to help carry out your wishes in Paige — like a person who can trigger your scheduled messages or report a passing on your behalf. You can learn more about delegates and how to assign them in the Delegates article.
Who Can Receive a Message?
Messages can be sent to any contact you've added to Paige. You choose exactly who receives each message so, for example, a letter meant for your daughter doesn't accidentally go to anyone else.
You're always in control of who sees what.
Messages vs. Memories — What's the Difference?
Paige has two features that can feel a little similar at first: Messages and Memories. Here's a simple way to think about it:
|
Messages |
Memories |
|
Written directly to a specific person or people |
Captured for sharing more broadly |
|
Typically focused on what you want them to know or feel |
Focused on moments, stories, and experiences from your life |
|
Can be scheduled, triggered, or sent immediately |
Can also be scheduled and shared |
They can complement each other beautifully, but they serve different purposes. This article focuses on Messages. If you'd like to learn more about Memories, check out... "What Is a Memory?"
